How to Use This Calculator

  1. Enter your local clock time in 24-hour format (e.g., 14:30 for 2:30 PM).
  2. Choose your current region UTC offset from the source dropdown list.
  3. Choose your international colleague or destination city UTC offset.
  4. Check destination local time and note if the meeting crosses into the following calendar day.

Formula & Calculation Methodology

Target Time = Source Time + (Target_UTC_Offset - Source_UTC_Offset)

The time difference is calculated by subtracting source offset from destination offset. The hour offset is added to local time in minutes, mapped across modulo 1,440 minutes, and evaluated for date boundary rollovers.

Source_UTC_OffsetCoordinated Universal Time variance of originating location
Target_UTC_OffsetCoordinated Universal Time variance of destination location
Day ShiftRollover marker indicating if the result enters the next or previous calendar day

Worked Example

New York (UTC-5) at 14:30 converting to Paris/Berlin (UTC+1)

sourceTime: 14:30
sourceUtcOffset: -5
targetUtcOffset: 1
Result: 20:30 (Same day, +6.0 hours ahead in Paris/Berlin)

Frequently Asked Questions

Does this calculator handle half-hour time zones like India (UTC+5:30)?↓

Yes. Selected time zones such as India Standard Time (UTC+5:30) and Newfoundland (UTC-3:30) are accurately modeled down to exact 30-minute incremental shifts.

What happens when a conversion crosses past midnight (00:00)?↓

If adding hours pushes the time past 24:00, the result cycles from 00:00 onwards and flags "+1 day (Tomorrow)" so you avoid scheduling errors across dates.

How does daylight saving time (DST) affect these calculations?↓

During Daylight Saving Time, cities advance their UTC offset by 1 hour (e.g. New York shifts from UTC-5 in winter to UTC-4 in summer). Choose the active seasonal offset for your desired date.

What limitation should I keep in mind when booking international conferences?↓

Different nations transition in and out of Daylight Saving Time on different calendar weekends (e.g. US transitions earlier in March than Europe), creating a temporary 1-hour drift for several weeks each spring and autumn.
