Attendance Calculator

Track your class attendance percentage and plan ahead with precision. Whether your college mandates 75% or 85% minimum attendance to sit for final exams, this calculator shows your current percentage, exactly how many upcoming lectures you can safely skip, or how many you must attend to recover from a shortage.

Current Attendance: 0

Total number of class lectures held to date

Total lectures you were physically or digitally present for

How to Use This Calculator

  1. Enter the total number of classes conducted in the subject or semester so far.
  2. Enter the total number of lectures you attended.
  3. Adjust the target threshold (default is 75%).
  4. View your exact percentage, allowable skips, or classes needed to restore eligibility.

Formula & Calculation Methodology

Attendance (%) = (Classes Attended / Total Classes Conducted) × 100

Divides lectures attended by total lectures held. When above target, computes allowable absences using A / (T + X) ≥ Target. When below target, computes consecutive attendances needed using (A + Y) / (T + Y) ≥ Target.

ANumber of classes attended
TTotal classes conducted to date
TargetMinimum threshold fraction (e.g. 0.75 for 75%)
X / YAllowable absences (X) or consecutive classes needed (Y)

Worked Example

Attended 42 out of 50 conducted classes with a 75% university requirement

totalClassesHeld: 50
classesAttended: 42
targetPercentage: 75
Result: 84.00% (Status: On Track (≥75%), Safe Skips: 6 classes, Needed: 0 classes)

Frequently Asked Questions

Why is 75% attendance mandatory in many colleges and universities?↓

Accreditation bodies and statutory education councils (such as UGC, AICTE, and state university boards) mandate 75% attendance to ensure adequate laboratory practice, classroom participation, and academic rigor.

Can medical leave or excused absence be deducted from total classes?↓

Depending on your institution's bylaws, sanctioned medical leave (often up to 10% with a hospital certificate) may relax the minimum threshold from 75% down to 65% for exam hall ticket eligibility.

How does this tool calculate how many classes I can skip?↓

It solves the inequality Attended / (Total + Future Absences) ≥ Target. It floors the result so skipping that exact number of classes guarantees your percentage never falls below your target.

What limitation applies if remaining scheduled classes are limited?↓

If you have a severe attendance shortage late in the semester, there may not be enough scheduled lectures left to mathematically reach 75%. Use the Attendance Percentage Required Calculator to factor in total semester schedule limits.
