Term GPAGrade point average earned in latest semester
Total CreditsSum of prior completed credits and current term credits

Worked Example

Prior CGPA of 3.45 across 45 credits, followed by a 3.80 term GPA in 15 credits

currentCgpa: 3.45
completedCredits: 45
semesterGpa: 3.8
semesterCredits: 15
Result: New CGPA: 3.54 (Total Credits: 60.0, Equivalent Percentage: 33.63%, Quality Points: 212.25)

Frequently Asked Questions

How does CGPA differ from SGPA?↓

SGPA (Semester Grade Point Average) measures your performance over a single term, while CGPA (Cumulative Grade Point Average) measures your aggregate performance across all semesters combined.

Why is the percentage formula multiplied by 9.5?↓

The standard AICTE and CBSE formula multiplies 10-point CGPA by 9.5 to map to Indian percentage marks, as an average top student scoring 10 CGPA typically achieves 95% in board examinations.

Does retaking a course replace the previous grade in CGPA?↓

At most universities, when you retake an eligible course, the higher grade replaces the previous attempt in the cumulative GPA calculation, although the original course remains on your transcript.

What limitation applies if using a 10.0 scale vs 4.0 scale?↓

This calculator works universally with either 4.0 or 10.0 scale inputs as long as both prior CGPA and semester GPA use the identical grading scale.
